The 22nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea, King Jeongjo, led the late Joseon Dynasty’s literary renaissance and political revival. Open the way to the most magnificent and glorious festival in the history of Korea!
King Jeongjo (aka “Jeongjo the Great”) was a good and wise king who always cared for the people, and was also well known for his deep sense of filial piety. He assumed the throne at the age of 25 after the death of his father, Crown Prince Sado, who was confined and starved in a rice chest. He is remembered as one of the greatest kings of the Joseon Dynasty, along with Sejong the Great, who worked hard to achieve political reform and integration as well as show love to the people.

16:40 ~ 18:30 A parade that serves to contribute to the development of citizen-led festivals and to provide inspiration and enjoyment through direct participation of citizens in a reenactment of King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade held 220 years ago, which is depicted in Banchado (a painting of the royal ritual records) in the 『1795 King Jeongjo’s Long-Distance Royal Procession Record Book』 (Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Euigwe), and provides experience of the meaning and significance of the whole event.
17:00~18:30 A parade of citizens joining the procession on board the Hwaseong Royal Vehicle, a sightseeing train that runs inside and outside of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.A parade in which organizations and companies that contributed donations participate in the procession.

17:05 ~ 17:25 Gyeong-Jaeng Intro performance, which is dynamic and lively, by a large-scale castMain Gyeong-Jaeng Program in musical form, performed by professional actors, with the Jang Yong Young Royal Guards defeating assassins.

A ceremonial changing of the festival flag which symbolizes the joint reenactment of King Jeongjo’s Royal Parade, starting from Seoul and going through Anyang, Uiwang, and Suwon to Hwaseong.
Living museum of traditional life The village is showcasing traditional Korean culture and lifestyle of the 19th-century.
