Overview

Busan, a bustling city of approximately 3.6 million residents, is located on the southeastern tip of the Korean peninsula and second largest city in Korea. Its deep harbor and gentle tides have allowed it to grow into the largest container handling port in the country and the fifth largest in the world. The city’s natural endowments and rich history have resulted in Busan’s increasing reputation as a world class city for tourism and culture, and it is also becoming renowned as a hot spot destination for international conventions.

Igidae Park faces Jangsanbong Peak which is included in Yongho 3-dong. After passing one hill between Yongho Sewage Treatment Plants and Igidae, the east side where the peak (225.3 m high) can be seen has picturesque scenery, created by uniquely shaped rock cliffs, but it is too dangerous for tourists to visit. Therefore, visitors can take a ship in order to enjoy the scenery. The center of Igidae looks almost flat and seems to be leaning against the mountain which is linked to the sea for about 2km. The scenery including waves crashing into the rocks is fantastic and the area is also a suitable fishing spot.

The construction of Oryukdo Skywalk finished on September 12, 2012 at the Seungdumal area, which is regarded as the dividing point between the East Sea and the South Sea, and started operating on October 18, 2013, with the theme of “Walking over the sky.” Iron columns were set up over a 35-meter-high coastal cliff, and a 15-meter glass bridge comprised of 24 glass plates and shaped like a horse’s hoof connect the iron columns. Visitors will be thrilled with the view of the waves while looking down through the transparent floor. The sea stretches out ahead of the skywalk, perfect for a photo op, as well as the best spot to see Daemado Island on sunny days.

Gamcheon Culture Village is formed by houses built in staircase-fashion on the foothills of a coastal mountain, earning this village the nickname of “Machu Picchu of Busan.” The many alleys cutting through this community are vibrantly decorated with murals and sculptures created by the residents.

Dadaepo Beach is made from sands deposited by Nakdonggang River and features shallow water and wide sand fields suitable for children to enjoy. Nearby, Dadaepo Beach Park is also the perfect place for a family vacation as various facilities such as a foot bathing facility, shower facilities, and parking places are available. The place is also used for the Busan sea festival and the event venue for daljip (brushwood) burning on Jeongwol Daeboreum.
